Creating Reliable upliftings for the most vulnerable
Vulnerable children and girl child education page
Topping Crue foundation endeavoring to alleviate poverty and vulnerability through community education which is currently being executed under an open learning education system.Topping Crue Foundation for the last 4 years is engaged in this project with a pilot project carried out in 2016. We had started with only 20 children and 5 adult learners where we were providing free community education as well teaching adult learners how to read and write. But as time went on our service became on high demand such that at present there are nearly 200 children and 500 adult learners are enrolled at our community school center under this project with 100 learners on the waiting list. So far this project is currently operational in Livingstone libuyu area and surrounding village communities who are provided with community education. We are currently not funded or endowed by any individual donor, group, organization or denomination. Currently the school is running on donation from the board. Therefore our operation so far has been solely from our own free contribution. Hence the main reason why we are sourcing for funding so that we will be able to fully manage this project properly. The number of learners has increased but due to the limited number of chairs some of our children are learning on the floor and we turned what was formerly a chicken run into a 1x2 classroom which is in dare need of maintenance as its iron sheets has got leakages and our fear is that we are in rain season in Zambia and once the rains start pouring the kids may get soaked while in class which can affect their concentrate and interrupt classes. Another challenge is that many of these kids lack books, shoes clothing, pencils and some of them are HIV-positive and on ARVs drugs. Most of them are adversely affected by HIV-AIDS pandemic in that some of them are single while others are double orphaned, therefore to ensure that they attend school the scool has to provide them with the necessary school materials. Our community school has enrolled these vulnerable children, were we are providing them with education at a free cost.
